Store Measures
A number of measures have been put in place at the shopping centre. We ask that everyone follows these to make their experience, and that of other shoppers, as safe and enjoyable as possible when they visit us. By doing this, we will be able to continue supporting the needs of our community.
We would also ask that everyone is considerate to the centre’s staff, those working in the stores and to other shoppers when visiting us. We so appreciate the support already received from local people during this challenging time. Published opening times may change at short notice as situations change, so we’d strongly recommend that you check our latest opening times before visiting us for the most up to date information. These can be found on our website.
Social distancing
In line with government guidance, we would ask that visitors to the centre continue to practice social distancing and maintain a minimum 2m distance.
The centre has put in place stickers and posters along the mall as a reminder to continue to socially distance during your visit.
One way system
A one way system has been implemented throughout the centre to help maintain social distancing. Individual shopping lanes have been created and floor stickers are in place to help guide visitors.
Visiting our stores
There will be a maximum number of people allowed into each store at one time (this number will vary according to that store’s individual policy) and the public will be asked to queue outside in a socially distanced manner until it’s their turn to enter the store. Floor stickers have been put in place to help people maintain a 2m distance whilst waiting.
We’d recommend bringing an umbrella with you in case of bad weather, as it may to be necessary to queue outside some stores.
Hand washing
We would ask that you wash your hands regularly during your visit.
This can be done within the centre’s Public Toilets or at a number of Hand Sanitising Stations which have been installed at regular intervals along the mall.
Outdoor seating
All outdoor seating has been temporarily cordoned off or removed
Public Toilets
The public toilets at New Square are open for you to use. We have closed off some of the sinks and cubicles within the toilets to help maintain social distancing and we have also replaced the hand dryers with paper towel dispensers.
Cleaning
Increased cleaning provisions have been put in place, with additional deep cleaning of public areas and toilet facilities to ensure the highest possible level of cleanliness throughout the centre.
Lifts and Escalators
One person at a time is allowed to use a lift and staff will use PPE when pressing buttons to operate the lift. Escalators have been marked so only 1 step every 5 can be used to maintain social distancing.
New Square Staff
Our centre team will be on hand as always to help you during your visit and can advise on any queries you have.
Management staff, security, cleaners and other public facing members of the team will wear PPE including face masks and gloves whilst working on site to maintain their safely and the safety of others.
A full training programme has been implemented for staff, so they are able to carry out their work and continue to help the public, whilst maintaining social distancing.
Car parking
Parking is available on both the Tesco car park and Primark long-stay car park. Car parking charges are active on both car parks.
Bring Your Mask
It is now mandatory to wear a face covering in shops and supermarkets across England, so please bring your mask with you when you visit the centre.
We’d also request that visitors wear their mask in the public areas of the centre as well where possible.
